Amit Mishra

Professor Amit Mishra

Director and Chief Innovator

A prolific innovator with multiple patents in topics ranging from radar to AI to ASIC-design, Amit has worked in four continents on a wide range of co-innovation challenges and research projects. He has published more than 180 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences and has supervised 11 PhD students to completion so far. Due to our international and interdisciplinary work, Amit also works as an Adjunct Professor in the University of Cape Town, University College London, University of Sunshine Coast (Australia), University West Sweden and AGH University Poland.

James Hepworth

James is a experienced engineer with a diverse background in the fields of embedded systems, sensor optimisation and geo-spatial data analysis. He has worked on projects ranging from medical environmental control to systems development for Antartic platforms. James is currently an academic in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Cape Town.

Thomas Roomes

Engineer

Thomas is a candidate MSc. (Eng) in Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Cape Town, having completed a BSc. (Eng) in Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering in 2024. The focus of his current research concerns the implementation of algorithms for then blind calibration of sensor outputs. He has gained experience in embedded systems development, PCB design, calibration, and mechanical manufacturing through projects in both South Africa and Germany. His academic and technical interests include mechatronic systems, sustainable energy, aviation, and engineering design.
